Valmiermuiža Flavour Map
Having sounded out the men in the vicinity, our landlord discovered that 50 years ago, full-bodied and sweet dark beer brewed on a local collective farm was hugely popular. Having sampled tens of varieties of dark beer from all over Europe, he blended the flavours of distant lands and the preferences of local beer lovers into his Valmiermuiža dark beer.
As all our beers, also this beer is brewed in accordance with the German Beer Purity Law – using four natural ingredients: water, yeast, malt and hops. The beer is laid down for 45 days and leavened, naturally and unhurriedly, to a strength of ABV 5.8%. It is a live and unpasteurised beer.
The flavour of dark beer is best revealed if it is consumed from a classic Valmiermuiža (tulip form) beer glass, at a temperature of +10 to +12 °C. This will allow you to fully appreciate the colour of the beer, its firm form head, and fine bouquet of fragrance and flavour. Gourmands are recommended to enjoy this beer together with dark chocolate desserts, cakes and sweet delicacies, such as Valmiermuiža malt caramels.
