Valmiermuiža Flavour Map
Back in the day, in brewing their beer, Kokmuižas brewers, whose mouth-watering beers made the brewery famous in the years before the First World War, were inspired by the best foreign beer styles to which they added a subtle Latvian twist. New Kokmuiža Mozaīka is inspired by American Pale Ales or APAs, which are characterised by a generous infusion of hops grown in North America not only during boiling, but also later on during the conditioning of the beer. Very popular with American brewers, in Latvia this style of ale is fermented with a sweeter and richer malt base.
Mosaic hops were created by blending a Simcoe with a male variety, whose lineage includes Nugget and four more hops. Poured into a glass, Kokmuiža Mozaīka is hazy amber in colour, forming a rich and light head. During the dry hopping process, the sweet maltiness of its aroma is tinged by juicy mango, camomile and sun-kissed blueberries. The exotic fruitiness of the initial mouthful is soon embraced by a calm and self-assured bitterness, complemented by the interplay of rich barley and meadow flowers.
The taste of ale is best enjoyed in a special Kokmuiža Ale brewery glass. Mozaīka will be ideally complemented by rich lamb or beef stews. If there are any hunters among your friends and relatives, this beer should definitely be sampled together with venison smoked in juniper.
